Diagnostics & Hormone Status

Look first, then recommend

Laboratory testing can provide valuable information during menopause — but it is only one part of the picture. Depending on your individual situation, I look at hormone levels, glucose and insulin metabolism, bone metabolism, micronutrient status, and markers of inflammation, alongside body composition and your current capacity for recovery.

The aim is to use diagnostics selectively and with a clear purpose: to identify relevant deficiencies or metabolic changes, put your symptoms into context, and understand where targeted measures may be useful. Only then do I make recommendations — based on what the results actually show, rather than on assumptions.

What We Look At

Depending on your symptoms, health history, and existing findings, I select the parameters that are most relevant to your individual situation. These may include:

  • Hormone status: including estrogen and progesterone and, where appropriate, thyroid function
  • Glucose and insulin metabolism
  • Bone metabolism: for example calcium and vitamin D status
  • Micronutrient status: for example iron, magnesium, and B vitamins
  • Markers of inflammation
  • Body composition using BIA: including muscle mass, fat mass, and possible signs of low muscle mass
  • Autonomic regulation using HRV analysis: providing insight into the balance between stress and recovery

BIA & HRV Analysis Over Time

BIA and HRV analysis can also be useful for tracking changes over time. BIA allows us to monitor changes in muscle mass and body composition, while HRV provides information on how your autonomic regulation changes over the course of your support.

You will find a general explanation of blood testing, BIA, and HRV analysis under Methods & Approach / Diagnostics. This page focuses specifically on how these methods can be used in the context of menopause.

Transparency About Laboratory Testing

I discuss laboratory testing with you openly and decide together which parameters are genuinely useful. I recommend a core set of tests where appropriate, while more extensive testing remains optional and depends on your individual situation. I do not recommend supplements across the board — nutrition and lifestyle remain the foundation, and supplementation is used selectively.
