When Your Body Reinvents Itself

Menopause is not an illness. But it can feel like one. Sleep problems that wear you down for months. Hot flashes that come out of nowhere. A body that suddenly feels unfamiliar. Mood changes that do not feel like you.

All of this is real. And it deserves real answers — not reassurance that everything is “normal”, and not symptoms being brushed aside.

What I Offer

I support you through perimenopause and postmenopause with an individual approach that brings together modern diagnostics, Functional Medicine, and Ayurveda. Menopause affects every woman differently, which is why there is no single approach that works for everyone. My recommendations are based on your symptoms, your health history, your current stage of life, and — where appropriate — targeted diagnostic testing.

Whether you are dealing with hot flashes and sleep problems, changes in weight and metabolism, mood, bone health, or joint pain, the following pages take a closer look at why these changes can happen, how to recognise the early stages of menopause, and which diagnostic and treatment options may be useful.

I help you understand what is changing in your body, what you can influence yourself, and which options may be appropriate for you. Together, we develop an individual approach that fits your symptoms, your priorities, and your everyday life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I come to you even if I’m not yet sure which treatment approach is right for me?

Yes. You don’t need to have decided on a particular path beforehand. Together, we look at your symptoms, your health situation and what matters to you. From there, we can identify sensible next steps and any questions you may want to discuss with your gynecologist.

Do I need to bring recent lab results or hormone tests with me?

No. If you have recent medical or laboratory results, please bring them – they can be helpful in assessing your situation. We will decide individually whether any additional testing makes sense. Hormone testing is not automatically necessary or conclusive, particularly during perimenopause, as hormone levels can fluctuate considerably during this phase.

Can you arrange laboratory testing, or do I need to see my doctor for this?

I can arrange many laboratory tests directly through specialized laboratories. Depending on the individual question, these may include micronutrient status as well as markers related to metabolism, thyroid function or bone health. We discuss beforehand which tests are actually useful – not every woman needs extensive laboratory testing.

What does a consultation with you actually involve?

We begin with a detailed medical history: What symptoms are you experiencing, when did they start, how have your cycle, sleep, weight or general well-being changed, and are there any medical conditions or medications we need to consider? We also review any existing results. From there, we develop an individual plan that may include nutrition, exercise, sleep and stress regulation, Ayurveda, micronutrients or further diagnostic steps.

Do I need to come to Berlin, or can I work with you entirely online?

Both are possible. Consultations can take place at my practice in Berlin-Mitte or online. Tests such as BIA or HRV/autonomic nervous system analysis and blood draws require an in-person appointment. If you don’t live in Berlin, some laboratory tests can also be arranged through your own doctors and we can then review the results together.

Can I come to you if I’m already taking hormone replacement therapy?

Yes. Hormone replacement therapy does not rule out complementary support. We can look at any symptoms that remain despite HRT and whether additional factors such as sleep, stress, metabolism, nutrition, exercise or micronutrient status may be playing a role. Prescribing or adjusting your hormone replacement therapy remains the responsibility of your doctor.

Can you also support me if I’m considering starting hormone replacement therapy or thinking about changing my current treatment?

Yes – as a complement to medical care. I can help you assess your symptoms and individual situation and prepare for a well-informed conversation with your gynecologist. Whether HRT is suitable for you, which medication to use and at what dose are decisions you make together with your treating doctor.

What can I do if I don’t want to take hormones or cannot take them for medical reasons?

Hormones are not the only way to manage menopausal symptoms. Depending on your symptoms and individual situation, options may include changes to nutrition, exercise and sleep, stress regulation, selected micronutrients, herbal preparations or Ayurvedic approaches. What is appropriate and safe always depends on your individual circumstances.

Can I also come to you if I’ve had breast cancer?

Yes. Supporting women with and after breast cancer is a major focus of my work. If you have had hormone receptor-positive breast cancer and are receiving endocrine therapy, my program “Safe & Stable Through Endocrine Therapy” is specifically designed for this situation. For other types of breast cancer, we can look individually at what kind of support is right for you.

How is your support different from the care I receive from my gynecologist?

My work does not replace gynecological care – it complements it. While your gynecologist is responsible for areas such as medical diagnostics, preventive care and prescribing hormone replacement therapy, my consultations give us more time to look at different aspects together: symptoms, nutrition, metabolism, sleep, stress regulation, exercise, micronutrient status and, where appropriate, Ayurveda and other complementary approaches. The aim is not to treat as much as possible, but to identify what is genuinely useful for you.

Going through menopause as a result of endocrine therapy for breast cancer? My dedicated program Safe & Stable Through Endocrine Therapy is designed specifically for this situation.
